OPENING STATEMENT: “Alright, as far as the injuries go, Nazeeh (Johnson) didn’t practice today, Justin and – both Justins, (Justin) Reid and (Justin) Watson. (We) had a couple guys get nicked. (Izaiah) Gathings with a hamstring (injury), (Kadarius) Toney (with an) ankle (injury). Chu (Chukwuebuka Godrick) had an ankle (injury), McKade (Mettauer had an) ankle (injury) and (Nick) Bolton had his elbow banged up. All in all, though, (it was a) good practice, (a) lot of good work. (The) guys are moving around. (We are getting) good challenging on both sides of the ball against each other. (We) got a lot of one versus one (and) two versus two work in today, so (it was a) positive practice. Anyways, (the) time is yours.”
Q: Can you tell us about Nick Bolton’s injury?
REID: “He tweaked his elbow. (He) just got it caught in between two guys.”
Q: What’s so good about the long drive drill during practice?
REID: “We just do different situations with it. The ones get quite a few reps with it. It’s playing the game is really what it is, so we have certain situations we work through.”
Q: With so many injuries, how difficult has it been to properly evaluate the cornerback position?
REID: “Well, it’s been good for the young guys to get some reps in there. (Jaylen) Watson came back (and) had some reps today, so (he’s) getting back in the swing of things. (When) he starts working on that will be a positive. For the young guys, the (Kelvin) Joseph’s of the world there, they all get a look. That’s good work for them.”
Q: Can you talk about Mike Danna’s career path and his improvement so far?
REID: “Mike Danna – number one, is a great kid. (He is a) tremendous worker. (He) doesn’t say a word, he just works and plays his heart out every play. If you want to call him a worker bee, he’s a worker bee. He comes to work every day and busts his tail.”
Q: How do you keep the guys hydrated during practice?
REID: “We do a lot beforehand of trying to make sure the guys are hydrated so they’re not coming out – we don’t have very many of the hydration issues, which is a positive. Our trainers do a nice job with that. Then, during practice we water break them. We’ll go a certain number of plays and then you’ll see the people run the water in and give them a quick shot and then hop back out.”
Q: How impressed have you been with Nikko Remigio’s development?
REID: “He’s getting better (with) every rep he gets. That’s a positive thing for us.”
Q: What is your opinion on the growth of some of your second-year position coaches?
REID: “It’s always smoother that second year once you’ve gone through it the first time. They hit the ground running and they’re doing a nice job with it.”
Q: With all the defensive guys that are out with injury, at what point does that start to affect your preparation for the season?
REID: “I think we’re okay at this point, Adam (Teicher). They’ll be back. They’ll be back here, and they’ll have time to work. I think we’ll be fine there.”
Q: How much does the speed in the wide receiver room change this team?
REID: “(There’s) not a ton changing. We have speed, but we’re just – we’re playing. We’re just using our offense and going. (There’s) not a whole lot new.”
Q: What have you learned so far in the position battle between Kingsley Suamataia and Wanya Morris?
REID: “I love to compete. Both of them are competing their tails off. I feel comfortable with both of them right at this point (and) where they’re at. They just (have) got to keep working and working to get better every day, and that’s what they’re doing. That’s the mindset (that) they’re in.”
Q: How much wiggle room does Kadarius Toney have after his injury when you are trying to maximize roster potential?
REID: “I mean, you want to be there every day. Any time you miss, you miss – especially during install days, you’re missing a load there. He’s got to take care of what he’s got and get himself back out there when he can.”
Q: Can you share what you said to Kadarius Toney?
REID: “At that time, I didn’t know he was banged up. It was just (like), ‘let’s keep rolling.’ He had a play before that, and he went up to get it (the ball). I think that’s probably where he did get hurt, but I didn’t know that at the time. (We) just (have to) stay on top of it. (We) just (have to) keep squeezing.”

DE MIKE DANNA
Q: What makes the defensive line room so scary this year?
DANNA: “I think everyone can play ball. Everybody can go get after it. Everybody is pushing one another, pulling one another. We got a great leader in Chris (Jones) in there, so everybody is just following after him. You got to carry your own weight. You got to step up to the plate when your number is called, and we got a bunch of guys in that room that are more than capable to do what they got to do.”
Q: On defensive injuries right now.
DANNA: “Well, you know you got to be ready when your number is called. With the guys that are hurt, they’re working their tails off to get back. They can’t control injuries for the most part – but you know the guys that are stepping up and taking reps, they’re being held accountable. Next man up, you got to be ready when your number is called because when you get on that field you got to play a hundred miles an hour.”
Q: What’s the key to staying hungry in order to obtain a three-peat?
DANNA: “Man you just got to compete. We are trying to do something that has never been done in history – in the NFL. We got to stay hungry, we got to stay on top of each other. We can’t take anything for granted. Everybody is going to give us their best shot every single week, and we got to rise up. Rise up to the occasion and do what we got to do. We know where our end-of-the-season goal is and that’s to hoist another Lombardi (Trophy). We got to take it one day at a time, one opponent at a time and just stick to our roots, which is working hard and getting after it.”
WR NIKKO REMIGIO
Q: Assistant Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub has you kind of favored as one of the lead kick returners. What have you learned about the new kickoff rule? How comfortable do you feel in that position?
REMIGIO: “I feel extremely comfortable. It’s very different. It tends to happen a bit quicker (snaps fingers), which I believe attends to my game a little bit more. You’ve got to change direction in a quicker amount of time and a shorter amount of space, so it’s going to be fun to see how it evolves. It’s something that’s going to be constantly changing, I think, as the season goes on. To be in the position I’m in now – to be learning and just seeing the different ways that (Assistant Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub) Coach is thinking. I’m excited to what it can evolve into.”
Q: What does it mean to you and how much pride do you take in being a Pinoy in the National Football League?
REMIGIO: “You see it right here, man (points to his tattoo sleeve on his arm). I mean, it’s everything to me. My culture (and) my family – it’s the biggest reason why I’m here right now. When I go out there every single day, I’m not only representing myself and my last name, but like you said, a whole community of people. So, to be able to be on this platform and to be able to represent them in a positive light, I don’t take that lightly, at all.”
Q: Offensive Coordinator Matt Nagy has described you as an absolute true professional. What types of things do you think you’re doing behind the scenes to lead to that impression?
REMIGIO: “It’s just the way you approach the meeting room, the way you approach your recovery, the way you approach your work, (and) your intentionality with your work. I think there’s a big difference between working hard and working hard intentionally to be able to focus on a specific thing that you’re improving on. So, like I said, just making sure I’m trying to maximize each of those different columns every single day is – I believe, what it entails to be a pro. Again, it’s something that I’m still learning, right? To be able to be around Pat (Mahomes), to be able to be around Hollywood (Brown), (and) Travis (Kelce) – a lot of those veteran guys that we have on the team. I’m just kind of picking and trying to be a sponge around those guys really.”
